Meet Diana DePalma
Founder of D3 Workshops, lead facilitator
Diana DePalma is a healthcare professional with many years of experience serving the community in various capacities, including Board of Education Trustee, PTA officer, and Religious Education Instructor. She has been conducting this workshop throughout the Long Island area for more than thirty years and worked closely with one of the book’s authors, Adele Faber.
The Beginning
In 1990 I began facilitating a parenting workshop through my children’s PTA, based on the NY Times bestseller How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk (for ages 5-teenager). I eventually traveled throughout Long Island and Queens, sharing these essential skills with literally hundreds of parents (some who recognized me in a mall or restaurant decades later and approached me to say I kept them from “killing” their kid!) I developed a relationship with one of the authors, Adele Faber, and she referred me for numerous speaking engagements and workshops throughout the years.
After the Pandemic hit, I became increasingly aware that many parents needed the skills available in this book. I also discovered that Adele’s daughter wrote a sequel called How To Talk So LITTLE Kids Will Listen (for ages 2-7). I got in touch with Adele’s daughter, Joanna, and her co-author, Julie, and told them about my idea of combining the two books into one (six-week) workshop. After eight months of conscientious and detailed work, I launched this much-needed workshop virtually on ZOOM. There will only be six to eight parents per group to ensure that I give them as much individual attention as possible. Spouses are the exception; it’s always better to have both parents taking the workshop for the sake of continuity in the home. Sessions usually last 2-2 ½ hours, but if there is a great deal of discussion, they may run as long as 3 hours. Your commitment would be to attend all the sessions, as each builds on the one before.
